WHY IT MATTERS

Why the North East of Sri Lanka

Trincomalee, on Sri Lankas north eastern coast, is a region of remarkable natural beauty, rich culture and a young, motivated population. Many young people however face a difficult transition from education into stable employment. Lanka Roots aims to help close this gap through training, mentorship and practical hospitality experience.
A Region Rebuilding
The north east of Sri Lanka, was deeply affected by decades of conflict. While peace has returned, the legacy is still visible in parts of the infrastructure, institutions and economic opportunities available to local communities. Many of these challenges are not always visible from the outside, but they continue to shape everyday life in the region.
The Gap We Address
Finishing school does not automatically lead to employment. The gap between formal education and real work is wide and often unfilled. Lanka Roots helps to bridge that gap through practical training, real world experience and professional networks that open doors.

Where Structural Barriers Are Highest

Trincomalee has enormous potential. A young population, a growing tourism region and people who are motivated and capable. What is often missing is not talent, but access to structured pathways into employment. Lanka Roots works with people who are ready to build their future. Young adults at the start of their professional career path, parents seeking flexible income opportunities and anyone with the motivation to learn and grow.
