Yes. Lanka Roots e.V. is a registered association under German law, headquartered in Mainz. We operate in close partnership with Lanka Roots CLG, the locally registered organisation in Trincomalee, Sri Lanka.
Lanka Roots e.V. is recognised as a charitable organisation under German law. Donations from German taxpayers are tax-deductible. We issue official donation receipts upon request.
Lanka Roots is currently in the implementation phase. Legal structures are being established, partnerships are growing and the first pilot program is in preparation. We are taking a step by step approach to ensure long term stability and quality.
Donations go directly toward participant scholarships, program development and infrastructure in Trincomalee. Lanka Roots is funded through individual donations and institutional partnerships. We publish a transparent breakdown of fund allocation on request.
Our first pilot program is planned for 2027. It will include a multi month preparation phase for local participants followed by a two week exchange program with international students.

Lanka Roots e.V. is run entirely by volunteers. There are currently no paid staff members. All board positions are held on an honorary basis.
Lanka Roots e.V. is governed by a volunteer board consisting of a chair, treasurer, and secretary. Major decisions are made collectively. Financial oversight is conducted by two independent auditors elected by the general assembly. The organisation's founder, Mythili Smith, advises on all fundamental strategic decisions.
